Who we are

Julia's Sweet Eats (“Julia's Sweet Eats”, “we”, “us”) operates https://juliassweeteats.ca. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial private-sector privacy laws, including Alberta’s PIPA, British Columbia’s PIPA, and Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

Accountability

As required by PIPEDA, we have designated a person responsible for our personal information practices and compliance with this policy. Privacy inquiries can be directed to them at [email protected].

Information we collect

When you submit a custom order inquiry through this website, we collect only the information you choose to provide: your name, email address, and phone number; details about your event (event type, date, guest count); your dessert preferences (dessert type, preferred size, flavour, filling, finishing touches, and cookie quantity); your design ideas, budget range, and any additional details you provide. If you choose to share inspiration photos, you can send them to us separately by email or Instagram. The form itself does not upload files. The instant cake or cookie quote estimate you build is stored temporarily in your own browser and included in your inquiry only if you choose to send it. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect payment information through this website.

Children and minors

Our website and services are intended for a general adult audience and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from anyone under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly handle the personal information of minors without the express consent of a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child or minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

How we use your information

We use the information you provide solely to respond to your inquiry, provide the services you request, and communicate with you about them. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We rely on your consent, which you may withdraw at any time by contacting us.

Cookies and analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool hosted in Canada on infrastructure operated by our web provider, to understand how visitors use this website. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal information, and reports only aggregated statistics such as page views, referring sites, and device type. Visitor IP addresses are not stored. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking for advertising purposes.

Our contact page includes an embedded Google Maps view of our service area. The map is loaded from Google, so when you view that page Google may receive your IP address and browser information and may set its own cookies, under the Google Privacy Policy. We do not receive any of that information.

Service providers

Messages submitted through our contact form are delivered to us by a secure email relay service, and this website is hosted on infrastructure we control. Service providers process information only as needed to deliver these functions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. Google provides the embedded map on our contact page, as described above. Website visit statistics are processed by Plausible Analytics, as described under Cookies and analytics. Links to our Instagram page take you to Instagram, operated by Meta, whose own privacy policy applies to anything you share there.

Retention and safeguards

We keep correspondence only as long as needed to serve you and to meet legal and business record requirements, after which it is deleted. We protect personal information with appropriate technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS).

Your rights

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to our use of it. To do so, contact us at [email protected]. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
